The Austbuilt Museum
The Austbuilt Museum commenced in 1962 by Keith Leleu, OAM, to address the continuing loss of all things maritime. The museum was bequeathed to the Port Adelaide Historical Society whose volunteers currently operate the museum.
The Austbuilt Museum, the oldest Maritime museum in Australia, is a wealth of artefacts, arranged to interest all who love ships and the sea. It houses a wide collection of artefacts, published material, photographs, books and model ships, principally Australian built and operated craft.
In recent times the Society has introduced many pictures and artefact from the Port Adelaide region
The Museum is situated at 95 Fletcher Road, Peterhead, near bus stop 45, and is open on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month between 2 and 4 pm.
